LIKE FATHER LIKE SON OR NOT

Will Smith once said,
*This is weird* I think it would be appropriate if I said, he once acted or quoted someone but no, he said,
"If you are absent during my struggle, don't expect to be present during my success".
And I fear, this is the attitude a large number of children have towards their fathers in our generation for if they are not deceased, they are never there.
I had a conversation with a few workmates yesterday and passionately they voiced what I have always feared, that ours is a generation that has been raised by single mothers what with fathers who deny their own offspring to those who leave them and their mothers to fend for themselves, then there are those who committ to 700 wives, try guessing how many that breed has fathered and funny though it may seem, they always show up to claim paternity after the children are grown and well to do. In a generation of absentee and irresponsible fathers, its easy to understand why these children have no gratitude whatsoever towards them and harbor resentment
Today is fathers' day and sons and daughters across our nation and perhaps the globe see no reason to celebrate. Who should we blame for fathers neglecting their duty? What can be done to rectify this gross error?
I for one, am not in this particular sect of children, my father has been a hands on dad, still is, he has raised us and fought tooth and nail to see us succeed infact a great deal of who I am today, i attribute to my father. He taught me how to read and write and brought me up in the way of the Lord, i walk in that way even today, I am very secure in the fact that things could go wrong anywhere in the world and daddy is that one person I can and will always depend on to be there, to pull me through it and to fix it. He is my superhero and has always been. I also have conversations with my dad daily and usually they are humourous but today it went something like this,
Me: Daddy I love you, Happy fathers' day
Daddy: Thank you sweetheart, you have been a good father too
Me: Father?
Daddy: Yes father. You have been a good father to your dog and goat.

The two mentioned above are my pets, daddy got me the dog for my 25th birthday and well I got my self the goat and I gave them both names which are hardly helpful to this piece so moving on, the conversation continued. After the laughter had died down, i asked him why, why the fathers in our nation are so irresponsible and this is what my very wise daddy had to say,
"Everyone trains the women, they are counselled, told how to behave in society first by their mothers then by their aunties (Ssengas) before they get married even in marriage counselling, the emphasis is on the women but no one takes time off to do the same for the boys, mentor them and tell them how to behave in marriage or how to behave when their children come or give them the basic sex education, they sort of figure these things out on their own and at times through their peers. He said theirs was a generation that was not well fathered and as such its a legacy that they too have passed on, he however mentioned that he was taught by his father, our grandfather how to treat us while they were on one of their forest planting escapades. Daddies' daddy daddied him and we need someone to do this for our generation so that the unending irresponsible father trend that plagues us today can stop.
Will there be any among the people out there willing to do this for the men in our society today? Will someone daddy the future daddies?
A gentleman I work with gave me hope when he said, "I will not be like my father, I will look after my children, I will love them, I will be different". This is the kind of attitude we need if we are to beat this vice and stop the fatherlessness of our generation. To the fathers who haven't been there for their children, it's never too late to start perhaps today could be that day and children forgive them and allow to start relationships with them as they seek to mend broken bridges, if they don't initiate it, you go ahead and seek them out, this might bring healing to a hurting generation.

That being said, I salute the men who have their act together, the men who have done right by their wives and children, you my dear gentlemen just like my dad, make me proud to say,
"HAPPY FATHERS' DAY"

FARE THEE WELL 25

First meetings usually warrant an introduction, allow me introduce 2013 which for me has begun today. I know for everyone else, it feels like they are born again on the first day of January, for me however, it's always the 9th of June. I consider the new year come and it officially begins for me on this very day.
Its always emotional saying goodbye to anything you have done for so long and I guess that's what makes goodbyes' so hard and sad, which is why I would expect to bid 25 goodbye amidst tears, I mean, I am no longer counted in the young demographic of this nation. I am now an adult o_O! whatever that means!!!.
But in retrospect, it has been a rather wounding year. I have discovered things about myself i never imagined possible at least not in this lifetime and all have been brought to the light by friends and foe alike, one thing's for sure though,
"Never say Never" <<<<<< Lesson well learned.
Mistakes have been made, friends have been lost, some have been regained, there have also been pockets of blessings littered here and there. Eternally grateful about how it has all turned out though but I am sure you are all wondering, "What next?" now that I am a year older. How  about this for an answer, "I don't know"
I will be whoever I please this year as long as it's fine by God, I will go out and search for whatever shall safisfy the passion that's been born today and right now.
"George Bernard Shaw" one of the greatest play wrights that ever lived once said,
"Life isn't about finding yourself, life is about creating your self"

*Raises glass and says* Fare thee well 25
*Sips from it and smiles* 26, how  do you do?

Off to creating

Don't care what he say she say

Friends without benefits
Don't care what he say, she say
He's just a boy,
I am just a girl,
Can i make it any more obvious?!!!!

It's her facebook profile pic, they must be seeing each other.

Mayherps i should blame her for starting this whole notion that girls and boys can't just be friends, After all she crooned it to gullible teenagers in her song "Skitter boy". Avril Lavigne is her name just in case you are still wondering who i am going on about.
Truth be told though it is not her fault at all, she too is slave to the thought school set out by the world all around us she is one in a pool of billions who believe there's no such thing as friendship between a girl and a boy.

So what if we are tighter than most? So what if we share almost everything? So what if we are free with each other?, i see nothing in the three things above that suggests we are dating. Unfotunately, in this ocean i swim alone, if there any others out there like me they are either hiding behind really huge rocks or they just lost their voices but i will speak up for my kind. It is very possible.
Trust me until you can interact with the opposite sex with no strings attached, you are not ready to be an adult and it leaves alot to be said about your self control.
Ofcourse there are several adults who can not pull this off either, i think for anything to work, it depends on ones mindset, if you purpose to be the best you can be in any relationship, be it with a girl or a boy and enjoy it to the fullest you would be shocked at how free you can become with any individual and how much you can share.
Platonic relationships between members of opposite sexes are not an illusion, they are realistic and i have heard the saying, "it usually turns messy because one person grows to think and want more from the friendship than the other party" but this doesn't always happen and when it does i believe you are all friends enough to work your way out of it or away from it, isn't that what friendship is all about?, Being there for eachother no matter the circumstance?, even if you disagree on certain beliefs and things, if you are friends enough, can't these things be worked out?, A friend, a true friend is not hindered by small talk from people who are always going to talk anyway, so what if they believe your seeing each other?, so what if they think that the friendship is a facade? Who cares what they say anyway? Truth be told this whole idea of what people will say has never phased me much, on anything. So if i want to be friends with some one, i will not hold back or treat them any differently because they are a guy, the rest of the world just has to deal with it, i will be there for them just as i would be there for a girl, Impartial and i suggest you do the same.

Now who of them is his girlfriend?
Now don't start saying, she has no idea what she is talking about and oh well, some of us have seen it first hand, we have experience because I, have experience too. I have friends like the ones in the pictures above that are unafraid of living their lives and being true friends at all occassions not only when the world (Society) deems it right but true friends in the real sense of the word, they are there in the good times and the bad and will not allow to be sidelined from whatever problems you have because of their gender, they will listen to you no matter how silly your argument is and will set you straight whenever need arises, do not over think it just be friends and enjoy the best friendship has to offer, share, communicate, understand and love one another, post whatever pictures you want on whatever site, facebook, twitter, you name it and dont let any one stop you because they think otherwise, because they saw a picure on facebook and are convinced you are seeing this person. Thats their problem, let them deal with it, you be the best friend you can be and someday, hopefully someday soon, they just might see the light. People are brainwashed all the time with the worlds notions and beliefs, well here is mine, what do you have to say?

The Me that was

4 Years now it has been and i am warped in this zone, it was good, an achievement, thrilling but that was years ago and now its time for more but what? You see four years ago today i would have had an answer

I miss her, she was young, fearless and a dreamer, she was determined to make the world see things her way and soon they did, she had an amazing view of the world on a whole. Sometimes i sit and think if she were here today, how different things would be.

What happened? Where and when did i lose her? She pinched a bit of her dream and became consumed with everything else, doing this and that and now she is lost. Can i still find her?

So many questions and almost no answers, no one can answer these questions for me, i and i alone can answer them. Time to take my head out of the sand and find the me that was, whether it was the weather or people or situations that made me get this way, it's time to shake them off and break the shackles that bind me to this new physically grown shell of my old self.
Find the things that made me fearless, go back to the truth, to the things I was grounded in and then maybe I will find her and stop the search that has gone on for years now and finally bring her home to save me from this unchanging world, It's grey here..... the hues of grey in this world have blended perfectly for years and honestly they have become dull and boring........

Off on a quest for the me that was
Time for excitement but first i must find her and then may be look forward to a brighter day.... There is still that nagging fear "what if i've got it wrong and no poem or song can put right what i've got wrong or make it feel like i belong?" Every step i take, could be my biggest mistake yet, it could bend or break every thing i am working to recover but that is the risk i am willing to take so I am off on a quest for the me that was..... Wish me luck!!!!
